Folegandros is what the Cyclades looked like before mass tourism — a tiny, steep island with no cars in the main village, a clifftop Chora that is among the most beautiful in Greece, and beaches accessible only on foot or by boat. It has been quietly popular with discerning travellers for decades. The population is 650. Everything moves at walking pace. Come here to disconnect completely.

One of the finest Cycladic villages in Greece — a medieval kastro and a series of interconnected squares with no cars, excellent tavernas and bougainvillea everywhere. Walk through all three squares. - 11:00 · Church of Panagia
The church on the clifftop above the Chora — accessed by a steep path, with views over sheer 200m cliffs to the sea below. Carried to the cliff every August in the island's great festival. - 14:30 · Karavostasis Beach
The port beach — small, pebble, with good tavernas. Not spectacular but convenient, with a good fish restaurant directly on the waterfront.

The best beach on Folegandros — a sandy cove accessible by a 20-minute walk or the island minibus. Clear water, excellent small taverna, relaxed atmosphere. The path continues west to more secluded coves. - 12:30 · Agios Nikolaos Beach
Wild pebble beach a 15-minute walk west of Angali — completely empty, no facilities, extraordinary water clarity. The most secluded accessible beach on the island. - 19:00 · Chora Evening
Return to Chora for sunset at the kastro walls, then dinner at one of the village square tavernas. Folegandros has the best taverna food of any small Cycladic island.

Remote beach accessible only on foot (45 min from Ano Meria) or by boat. Wild, empty, exceptional water. For those willing to walk. - 16:00 · Karavostasis — Departure
Ferry to Piraeus, Santorini, Milos or Sikinos. Folegandros has fewer connections than larger islands — check timetables carefully.

Angali Beach
The best beach on Folegandros — a sandy cove with clear water and one of the finest small tavernas in the Cyclades. The walk from Chora through the fields adds to the experience. Everything about it is simple and perfect.
