Wild horses, poet's graves, and a unique cultural isolation

Συνολική βαθμολογία: 3.4/5 · 209 km² · 2994 κάτοικοι

Skyros is the largest and most isolated of the Sporades, geographically closer to Euboea but culturally a world of its own. Its two halves are dramatically different: a barren, rocky south where wild Skyrian horses roam (a distinct breed, smaller than ponies), and a lush, wooded north with Skyros Town, the prettiest village in the Sporades. In antiquity, this is where Achilles was hidden before Troy, and in 1915 where the English poet Rupert Brooke was buried.
