Northern forests, marble beaches, and ancient Agora

Συνολική βαθμολογία: 3.7/5 · 379 km² · 13700 κάτοικοι

Thasos is the northernmost Greek island — closer to Bulgaria than to Athens — and it looks nothing like the Cyclades. Dense pine and plane forests cover the mountains, rivers feed marble quarries, and the east coast has long white-sand beaches. In antiquity, Thasos was famously wealthy from its gold and marble; today the marble is still exported, and the ancient Agora in the main town is one of the most complete in Greece.
