Paros — Ekatontapyliani Church

Paros is where the Cyclades work best as a complete package. It has Naoussa — the most beautiful fishing harbour in the archipelago, excellent nightlife in Parikia, some of the finest marble architecture in Greece (the Ekatontapyliani church is 4th century), great beaches and easy ferry connections to everywhere. It is the most balanced island in the Cyclades — not the most extreme at anything, but consistently excellent across the board.

When to Visit

Paros has gotten loud in August — Naoussa is now Mykonos-lite. Late June and the first half of September are the windows. Antiparos is right next door if you want quieter beaches; pop over for a day. Easter in Lefkes is one of the best in Greece.

Sea warm enough, Naoussa lively in the evenings but not yet a nightclub strip. The chill Cycladic Paros that the island is famous for is still itself.
Jul
Hot summer, Naoussa harbour gets a club crowd by midnight. Beaches busy but not overwhelmed — Kolymbithres and Santa Maria need an early arrival.
Aug
Peak — Naoussa transforms into a Mykonos satellite, with the prices to match. Beaches packed. The chill Paros vanishes for the month; if that's what you came for, this is the wrong time.
Sep
Crowds halving through the month, Naoussa returning to itself, the sea at peak warmth, light turning golden. The Paros you imagine returns.
